The title compounds, bearing an alkyl and/or bromine substituent on nitrogen, were synthesized. Unlike 5‐bromo‐6‐methyluracil, 4‐bromo‐5‐methyl‐(2 H )‐1,2,6‐thiadiazin‐3‐(6 H )one 1,1‐dioxides have the ability to act as a bromonium ion source.
