The synthesis and properties of twelve 2‐substituted 3,5‐dinitrofurans are described. These derivatives include bromo‐, iodo‐, azido‐, hydroxy‐, amino‐, 3,5‐dinitro‐2‐furanyl‐, 5‐nitro‐2‐furanyl‐, acetamido‐, and carbamate compounds.
