4‐Amino‐2‐arylpyrimidines can be prepared conveniently by the reaction of an amidine with the readily available 3‐ethoxyacrylonitrile, 2‐chloroacrylonitrile or 2‐(1‐piperidinyl‐methyl)acrylonitrile.
