Procedures were developed to convert 4‐(2‐methyl‐1,3,4,6,9b‐pentaazaphenalene‐5‐yl)butanoic acid (Ia) and 3‐(2‐methyl‐1,3,4,6,9b‐pentaazaphenalene‐5‐yl)propanoic acid (IIa) to a series of esters and amides.
