Mixtures of 2,5‐diaryl‐1,4‐dithiin 1,1,4,4‐tctroxides and selenium were subjected to heat and afforded 2,5‐diarylselenophenes. Pyrolysis of 2,5‐diaryl‐1,4‐dithiin 1,1,4,4‐tetroxides led to the formation of a mixture of 1,2,4‐ and 1,3,5‐triarylbenzenes.
