Photolysis of N ‐benzyl‐ N ‐(4‐substituted‐phenyl)carbamoyl azides (Ia and Ib) afforded N ‐benzylidene‐ N ′‐benzylhydrazines (XIIa and XIIb) and the debenzylated benzimidazolines (XIIIa and XIIIb).
