By the synthesis of representative N x ,N y ‐dibenzyladenines and determination of their ultraviolet absorption spectra in acidic, basic and neutral solution we have assembled a body of spectral characteristics which makes it possible to distinguish among possible N,N‐disubstituted adenines.
