Derivatives of l‐methyl‐3H‐1, 4‐benzodiazepine‐2,5(1H, 4H)‐dione were synthesized by ring closure of substituted 2[(N‐chloroacetyl‐N‐methyl)amino]benzamides with sodium methoxide in methanol.
