A general and versatile one‐pot three‐component procedure for the selective synthesis of mono substituted quinazolin‐4(3 H )‐ones and 2,3‐dihydroquinazolin‐4(1 H )‐ones were described. The selectivity could be controlled by the ratio of iodine concentration. J. Heterocyclic Chem., (2010).
