The current review is focused on the routes for the synthesis, chemical properties and reactivity of sp 2 ‐ and sp 3 ‐carbon‐metalated triazines and tetrazines. The reported experimental data for the known compounds and intermediates including the alkali, alkaline earth, transition, and other groups 1 to 14 metal and metalloid derivatives of triazines and tetrazines were systematized. Electrophile trapping, transmetalation, couplings as well as ring opening and rearrangement reactions and their applications for the synthesis of functionalized molecules were considered.
