2‐Bromobenzoic acids underwent an α ‐arylation with cyclohexane‐1,3‐diones to give 1 H ‐benzo[ c ]chromene‐1,6(2 H )‐diones under Ar atmosphere catalyzed by CuI/ l ‐proline in the presence of Cs 2 CO 3 . The subsequent regioselective oxidation took place under O 2 balloon automatically based on the substituents for the construction of structurally diversified benzo[ c ]coumarin derivatives.
