Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG‐400) has been used as sustainable, nonvolatile, and environmental friendly reaction solvent for the synthesis of title compounds. Various diaryl pyrido[3,2‐c]coumarins have been synthesized in one step by reacting 4‐hydroxy‐7‐methyl‐coumarin with α,β‐unsaturated ketones in the presence of ammonium acetate. Further, in vitro antimicrobial (antibacterial and antifungal) activities of the compounds were screened against different pathogens. The results revealed that most of them showed potent activity. J.
