A convenient and simple method for the preparation of polybrominated benzimidazole derivatives has been described. Reaction of 4,5,6,7‐tetrabromo‐1‐(3‐chloropropyl)‐1 H ‐benzimidazole, obtained by alkylation of 4,5,6,7‐tetrabromo‐1 H ‐benzimidazole (TBBi) with 1‐bromo‐3‐chloropropane in the presence of KOH, with morpholine, aniline, benzylamine, N ‐methyl piperazine, and 2‐arylpyrrolidines afforded new TBBi derivatives.
