An alternative and efficient protocol for the synthesis of methylated pyrrolo‐tetrathiafulvalenes have been developed. The key intermediate in this new synthetic protocol is 4,6‐dimethyl‐ N ‐tosyl‐(1,3)‐dithiolo[4,5‐ c ]pyrrole‐2‐one, which can be obtained in high yield in a three‐step synthetic procedure from 5‐dimethyl‐3,4‐dithiocyanopyrrole.
