The four‐component condensation of benzil, aromatic aldehyde, primary amine, and ammonium acetate catalyzed by TFA in ionic liquid [Bpy]BF 4 at 80°C provided 1,2,4,5‐tetrasubstituted imidazoles in moderate to high yields.
