Every mathematics student hears about Kuratowski’s theorem, often described by topologists in the following way: A “curve” (consisting of vertices and some Jordan arcs joining them) can be embedded in the plane with no pair of arcs intersecting if and only if it contains neither of the following two curves obtained from a tetrahedron by joining: (a) its centroid by straight line segments to each of its four vertices
