The buttock is a common site of pathology and ultrasound and is often the first‐line imaging modality to examine soft tissue lesions of the buttock region. This review describes the ultrasound technique used, the relevant ultrasound anatomy, and the sonographic appearances of common and uncommon pathological conditions found in the buttock region. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
