Adsorption kinetics of 2,4‐dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4‐D) onto activated carbon is presented in this paper. The equilibrium adsorption of 2,4‐D is described by a Freundlich type isotherm and the batch kinetic experiments are analysed using a surface diffusion model. The model equations are simplified by an n th order approximation and, when applied to the experimental data, the approximation predicted the film transfer and diffusion coefficients with a good accuracy.
