Hydrolysis and esterification in a triolein/oleic acid system were compared with Candida cylindracea lipase attached to celite, hydrophobic zeolite and hydrophilic zeolite. The hydrophilic zeolite blocked the hydrolysis but mediated the esterification. Esterification with celite or hydrophobic zeolite as carrier was poor.
