The compound 2BaO.Al 2 O 3 .5H 2 O has been synthesised and studied by infra‐red, X‐ray and thermal analytical techniques. The compound of approximate formula 2BaO.Al 2 O 3 .H 2 O forms as a dehydration product. The results are interpreted in terms of the known structure.
