The synthesis of N ‐ethylbenzylamine from benzylamine and ethanol in the presence of an acid catalyst has been carried out under pressure. Under optimum conditions (497 K, 6.3417 MPa, residence period 1 h, benzylamine to ethanol mol ratio 1:3 and benzylamine to hydrochloric acid mol ratio 1:1), the conversion of benzylamine to N ‐ethylbenzylamine is 78.39%.
