Changes in the apparent surface area that are produced by carbonisation of a subbituminous coal at different temperatures are followed by adsorption of CO 2 at 273 K and 298 K, the Dubinin—Radushkevich equation being used. Activated diffusion effects are found for the char samples prepared at 973 and 1173 K. A maximum in the apparent surface area is found at 1073 K.
