A variety of polyfunctional pyridine azodyes and tetrazole dyes were prepared starting from ethyl cyanoacetate dimer. These derivatives were found to dye cellulose acetate, Nylon 6, Nylon 66, silk and wool with colours ranging from canary yellow to light violet.
