Photoreactivation of growth and DNA synthesis in UV‐irradiated cells and photoreactivating‐enzyme activity of cell‐free extracts can be demonstrated in a cell line derived from liver tissue of the African clawed toad, Xenopus laevis . This cell line, A8W2, is a favorable system for the quantitative study of photoreactivation in vertebrates.
