Sequences of oncogenes define related families and provide a large data bank for the production of synthetic peptides. These peptides can be used to produce site‐directed monoclonal antibody probes, which identify oncogene‐encoded and oncogene‐related proteins. The creation and utilization of these probes for clinical laboratory analysis are discussed.
