Keeping the valence band position fixed for simplicity of presentation of optical size and facet effects, this figure shows Cu 2 O cubes, octahedra, and rhombic dodecahedra of similar volumes display different colors and band gaps. The ranges of observed band gaps are also shown, with smaller particles having larger band gaps. More details about this figure will be discussed by Prof. Michael H. Huang on page 1–195 in this issue.
