In this paper , a facile, efficient and surfactantfree method to synthesize silica nanosphere supported ultrafine silver nanoparticles was developed. The antibacterial effects of the supported ultrafine silver nanoparticles with the ‘clean’ surface were evaluated against the Escherichia coli even at very low dosage accordingly to the bacterial viability measured by flow cytometry.
