This figure contains two key points: (i) a simple protocol for the preparation of bis(4‐methoxyphenyl)methanethiol, which could serve as a hydrosulfide synthon, and (ii) its application for the preparation of biotin thioacid which is an important new biotinylating reagent. Therefore, on the left of the picture, top to bottom, the synthetic route of bis(4‐methoxyphenyl)methanethiol from bis(4‐methoxyphenyl)methanol was described. On the right, bottom to top, is the application of bis(4‐methoxyphenyl)methanethiol in the preparation of biotin thioacid from biotin. More discussion by Prof. Lee‐Chiang Lo et al will be discussed on page on page 707∼710.
