The luminescence process using density functional method is studied. Based on the basic research, the commercial red phosphor has been improved and a series of new red emitting VUV phosphors with high efficiency have been explored. This article entitled “ Recent Research Progress of Red Phosphors for PDPs Applications ” was contributed by Prof. Yuhua Wang who was invited as a Visiting Lecturer (September 18, 2011 ∼ September 24, 2011) of the Chemistry Research Promotion Center, Taiwan, ROC.
