A simple and efficient one‐pot synthesis of 6‐bromocoumarins was achieved in good yields via the three‐component reaction of phenols, 4‐substituted acetoacetate and tetrabutylammonium tribromide (TBATB) in CH 2 Cl 2 ‐MeOH.
