NiO/MWNTs nanocomposites have been prepared by a simple and efficient chemical precipitation method with the aid of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). Hybrid materials were characterized by XRD, TEM, EDX, Zeta potential and FT‐IR techniques. Experimental results show that NiO nanoparticles with the size of less than 9 nm are well‐dispersed on the outside of MWNTs functionalized with SDS. Hydrogenated NiO/MWNTs hybrid materials exhibit good catalytic performance in the benzene hydrogenation reaction.
