A new procedure for the regiocontrolled synthesis of α‐(phenylsulfanyl) carbonyl compounds has been developed, making use of lithium naphthalenide induced reductive sulfenylation of α‐cyano carbonyl compounds as a key operation. Through this protocol, a variety of á‐(phenylsulfanyl) carbonyl compounds has been prepared in moderate to high yields. The completely regioselective sulfenylation was observed in most of the cases.
