Reaction of Mo(CO)(η 2 ‐C 2 Ph 2 ) 2 (η 4 ‐C 4 Ph 4 ) and Me 3 NO in acetonitrile solvent affords Mo(NCMe)(η 2 ‐C 2 Ph 2 ) 2 (η 4 ‐C 4 Ph 4 ) 1 . Compound 1 reacts with trimethylphosphine to produce Mo(PMe 3 )(η 2 ‐C 2 Ph 2 ) 2 (η 4 ‐C 4 Ph 4 ) 2 , or reacts with diphenylacetylene to produce (η 5 ‐C 5 Ph 5 ) 2 Mo 3 and Mo(η 2 ‐O 2 CPh)(η 4 ‐C 4 Ph 4 H)(η 4 ‐C 4 Ph 4 ) 4 . The molecular structures of 1, 2 and 4 have been determined by an X‐ray diffraction study.
