Reactions of aniline with 3‐arylsydnone‐4‐carbohydroximic acid chlorides ( 1 ) gave the de sired substitution products 5 . 3‐Arylsydnone‐4‐carboxamide phenylhydrazones ( 7 ) were obtained unexpectedly by the reaction of carbohydroximic acid chlorides 1 with phenylhydrazine in suitable conditions. Compounds 7 could react with both aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes in the presence of acid catalyst to give 3‐aryl‐4‐(1′‐phenyl‐5′‐substituted‐1′,2′,4′‐triazol‐3′‐yl)sydnones ( 11 ).
