Four protoberberine alkaloids, berberine, palmatine, dehydrocorydaline and coptisine were characterized as cytotoxic principles from the tuber of Corydalis turtshaninovii f. yanhusuo. On the other hand, dehydrocostus lactone and costunolide demonstrated cytotoxicity from the root of Saussurea lappa. Their structures were elucidated by spectral analyses.
