Relations between the dynamic light scattering spectrum and the mechanical compliances and longitudinal stress moduli of viscoelastic liquids are provided. The result provides a basis for determination of mechanical relaxation spectra using the dynamic light scattering technique. The method of Computating the longitudinal modulus and the compliance spectra from the time correlation of density fluctuations of poly (propylene glycol), as determined by the photon correlation spectroscopy technique is illustrated.
