Reinvestigation of the nonvolatile fraction of the acetone extractive from the heartwood of Taiwania cryptomerioides Hayata afforded taiwanin F which was established as 11‐hydroxy‐7‐oxohinokiol on the basis of spectral data and its synthesis from hinokiol. In addition, six known compounds, taiwanin A, savinin, taiwanin C, hinokiol, taiwanin E and diphyllin were also isolated from the same fraction.
