The stability constants (for the formation) of LaBr 2+ and LaBr 2 + ions were obtained potentiometrically at various ionic strengths at 20°, 25°, 30°, and 35°. The molal free energy was given by Δ G °=‐2,444.04+2.67 T log T +1.39 T . The thermodynamic quantities for the formation of LaBr 2+ were evaluated as Δ H f ° = −207.9, Δ G f ° = −199.1 kcal mole −1 and S ° = −29.5 cal. deg −1 mole −1 at 25°.
