We describe the syntheses of 6, 8‐di‐ tert ‐butyl‐, 7, 9‐di‐ tert ‐butyl., 6,7‐di‐ n ‐propyl and 8, 9‐di‐ n ‐propyl‐ O ‐spirodienonelactone from 3, 5‐di‐ tert ‐butylcatechol and 3, 4‐di‐ n ‐propylcatechol.
