A non‐destructive method was developed for the determination of lanthanum, cerium and europium in monazite sand by neutron activation analysis with gold as the internal‐reference element. Black and yellow monazite sands mined from south Tung‐Sen‐chou of Taiwan were analyzed and compared. The sensitivity and relative error were estimated for each element.
