Partial butylation of methyldichlorosilane followed by the hydrolysis of the product gave a complicated siloxane mixture, from which 1,3‐dimethyl‐1, 3‐dibutyl‐1, 3‐dihydrosiloxane (I), 1,3,5‐tri‐methyl‐1, 5‐dibutyl‐1, 3,5‐trihydrotrisiloxane (II), and 1,3,5,7‐tetra‐methyl‐1,7‐dibutyl‐1,3,5,7‐tetrahydrotetrasiloxane(III) were isolated and structurally determined. Removal of unreacted methyldichlorosilane after coupling reaction caused better yield of disiloxane, retention of methyldichlorosilane caused abundant yield of polysiloxanes.
