Paper electrophoresis in semicarbazide hydrochloride solution has shown that uranyl ion forms unit positively charged complex at p H 2.25. In 0.4 M hydrochloric acid, no detectable uranyl‐chloro complexes were formed. Electroosmotic flow created a water film extending from the cathode to the anode, and rendered the transference number of uranyl ion to zero at the margin of the water film. An improved method of paper chromatography was presented.
