Labelling of rose bengal with iodine‐131 was studied by using carrier‐free NaI‐131 produced at the National Tsing Hua University. The effects of p H and hydrogen peroxide on the radioactive exchange reaction were investigated. It was observed that as high as 88% of iodine‐131 was exchanged under the optimum conditions found in the present study. The purity of the I‐131 labelled rose bengal obtained by the exchange method was examined by paper chromatography, and was found to be satisfactory.
