Germanium was polarographically determined in NH 4 OH‐NH 4 Cl buffer of p H 9.2 on the one hand, and in 40% ethanol solutions containing the same buffer and an excess of gallein on the other hand. The optimum concentration range for the determination of germanium was 2×10 −6 to 5×10 −4 molar in the former case, and 5×10 −5 to 1×10 −3 molar in the latter case.
