Cadmium EDTA complexes in the acetate buffer has been used as an indicator electrolyte in the determination of zirconium and hafnium as EDTA complexes at p H 4.2. The polarographic determination of zirconium and hafnium could be made with solutions of concentrations as low as 10 −6 molar or 0.1 p.p.m . The results were compared with those obtained by potentiometric titration of the free cadmium ion in the concentration range 10 −3 to 10 −4 molar using cadmium amalgam as an indicator electrode.
