Bromotropolone derivatives, when heated with acetic anhydride and acetyl chloride, afforded acetylated chlorotropolone derivatives. Similarly, the reaction between bromotropolone derivatives and hydriodic acid gave the corresponding iodotropolone derivatives. The reactivity of various bromotropolone derivatives in view of the replacement of bromine atoms by chlorine or iodine atoms was extensively investigated.
