The distribution ratio ( q ) of the thorium nitrate TBP system has been studied by volumetric determination with EDTA and radiometric determination using UX 1 as radio isotope tracer. The q value has been found to be directly affected by the concentration of nitrate and that of TBP. For solutions of the same concentration in nitric acid and sodium nitrate which has been slightly acidified, the latter gives higher q value.
