A spectrophotometric study of hinokitiol in universal buffers of various pH's was carried out at 30°. The ionization constant obtained at ionic strength 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5 for hinokitiol were extrapolated to zero ionic strength to give a corresponding constant of 6.16 × 10 −8 .
