Two neutral triterpenoid sapogenins have been isolated from the fruits of Barringtonia racemosa, Blume. One of them, R 2 ‐Barringenol is possibly identical with Barringtogenol (2:3:23:28‐tetra‐hydroxyolean‐12‐ene) and the other, R 1 ‐Barrigenol: C 30 H 50 O 7 , is believed to be a heptahydroxy triterpenoid alcohol and is a member of the β‐amyrin series.
