A kinetic study on the formation of dipicrylamine by the interaction of dipicrylaminate and hydrogen ion was carried out amperometrically in a series of buffers of pH 3‐5 at 25°C. The order of reaction was estimated and the rate constants in various buffers were calculated in which the effects of the reverse reaction and the total ionic strengths of the solutions were taken into cosideration. The effect of pH on the rate constant was also observed and the true rate constant of the reaction was computed. From the knowledge of the dissociation constant of dipicrylamine, the rate constant for the reverse reaction could be evaluated. Polarographic behavior of dipicrylaminate in low pH range was reinvestigated and the reliability of the experimental procedure was verified○
